Former presidential candidate Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye together with his legal adviser Ernest Kalibbala have rushed to the High Court this morning and filed an application before the high court division head Kwesiga Wilson seeking to stop the Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court from hearing Besigye’s case until investigations are complete.

Besigye had earlier vowed never to report back at Nakawa court under magistrate Noah Ssajjabi Mawanda for treason charges on grounds that his time and resources are being wasted and the state is using courts to persecute him.

Now, the high court division head Kwesiga Wilson has set Feb 22 as the hearing date for the application a week before he is expected to appear before the Nakawa Court on Feb 27th.

Meanwhile, Besigye’s bail has been extended to 20th March where he will report to the registrar because unlike other days today he first reported to judge Kwesiga before going to the registrar Emmanuel Baguma.
