Newly appointed and approved officers of the electoral commission will tomorrow morning be sworn in at High Court.

According to the Justice mouthpiece Solomon Muyita, the ceremony will take place at High Court and the Chief Justice Bart Katureebe will preside over the ceremony.

Muyita explains that the electoral commission has too much work pending in office at the moment and need to start their work immediately after tomorrow’s ceremony.

In November last year, President Yoweri Museveni appointed Court of Appeal Judge Simon Mugenyi Byabakama to replace Mr Kiggundu who had spent 14 years as EC chair.

He also appointed Hajjat Aisha Lubega as the vice chairperson and commissioners Peter Emorut, Steven Tashobya, Prof George Piwang and Mustapha Ssebaggala Kigozi.

The new appointees will after swearing in tomorrow join Ms Justin A. Mugabi whose tenure at EC is yet to expire.
