Forum for democratic change, FDC party president Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu has explained that he is preparing the party for the 2021 presidential elections.

According to Gen. Muntu, any party that is going to manage power needs to have the capability to manage itself and any arising contradictions.

Muntu was responding to a question that has been posed by most Ugandans about his whereabouts during the home coming party thrown for Dr. Kiiza Besigye on Monday.

Besigye was returning from a six weeks visit to Europe and the USA on Monday, but Muntu was not among the party top officials who showed up at Entebbe airport and his home in Kasangati for celebrations.

He explains that the party National executive a committee constituted a committee of officials to prepare the home coming party and the whole party leadership cannot be running around for just one activity.

“NEC set up the committee that organised Besigye's homecoming. However, we all can't be at the same place always. We are all involved in different activities that complement each other. Hopefully more people will understand this.”

About the party losing to the NRM, Muntu said the party decided to fight for power without weapons. He explains that party development is broad. It's not only about building structures, but training, fundraising and recruitment.

“It is not easy to remain calm and systematic despite going through an election that was stolen. But we are doing it. It will be disastrous if we take power and fail to change Uganda. Our long term objective is to transform the country.”
