Several politicians have poured at Christ the King church to mourn the late Mzee James Otto the father of the outspoken Aruu South County MP Hon. Odonga Otto.

Several politicians have poured at Christ the King church to mourn the late Mzee James Otto the father of the outspoken Aruu South County MP Hon. Odonga Otto.

Mzee Otto died in Kiruddu hospital on Friday morning where he succumbed to kidney failure.

A requiem Mass is currently being held at Christ the King church in Kampala to pray for his departed soul.

 Led by the FDC party president Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu, several leaders are in attendance to console hon. Otto and the rest of the family. He spoke on behalf of the FDC.

Also in attendance is deputy speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanya who spoke on behalf of the house, while government was represented by chief whip Ruth Nankabirwa who delivered the condolence message.

Brig Charles Otema represented the UPDF, and Hon. Tom Mukiba represents friends and OBs of the late.

Born on 25th August 1945, Mzee Otto is survived by a wife, 8 children and 12 children.

He is remembered for the role he played during the formation of Human Rights Focus (HURIFO) in 1994.

HURIFO is a Gulu- based NGO with a country-wide mandate where he was a secretary general before becoming its first executive director.

He would later retire in 2010.

He also worked to promote human rights in Gulu District and the Acholi Sub-region.

Another requiem Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Parish, Gulu, tomorrow Wednesday beginning at 9am, thereafter, body leaves for his ancestral home in Ogom Sub-county, Pader District.

He will be laid to rest on Thursday September 29th at 2pm.

May his soul rest in eternal Peace.
