Uganda’s main opposition party, forum for democratic change, FDC is planning a massive welcome back event for its former presidential candidate, Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye from America and Europe where he has spent a month.
Dr Besigye, travelled to London on August 28th where he met Ugandans living in the United Kingdom to rally them to support efforts to end president Museveni’s more than 30-year rule.
He later attended and addressed the Ugandan community in North America at the UNAA convention at Boston Park hotel on September 3, where he faced off with speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga and other Ugandan politicians in a hot discussion.
The FDC Iron man has since returned to Europe from where he will return, on Thursday September 29th 2016 aboard Kenya Airways plane which will land at Entebbe airport at exactly 08:15am.
Waffula Oguttu, the former leader of opposition in Parliament, also minister for Presidency under Besigye’s illegitimate government has called upon all party supporters and Besigye’s fans to turn up and welcome him back home, where he actually still faces treason charges.
“He will be arriving at Entebbe airport aboard Kenya Airways plane/flight. He will arrive at 08:15 in the morning, the members and the leadership has felt that they should welcome him and also thank him for a job well done while in America and Europe” said Oguttu.
He also told the press at the party headquarters in Naajjanankumbi this morning, that the party has already informed the police about their intentions to give their leader a massive welcome back event.
“We have already notified the police that we shall be welcoming our beloved president and the Police have been asked to make sure that the traffic is moving smoothly because that’s what the law requires that we inform them and they provide security on traffic and any other security detail” he added.
Besigye and his wife Winnie Byanyima today missed the Golden Jubilee Award ceremony at Serena hotel that is designated for people who have served in the Ugandan parliament since independence in October 1962 to October 2012.
