The ruling National Resistance Movement, NRM party is yet to consider a move to lift presidential age limit as President Museveni, also party chairman seeks to continue his long term rule.

Appearing on local TV station NBS this morning, a furious government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo denied that the subjected was debated during the 2016 leadership retreat in Kyankwanzi.

The retreat that ends today was attended by ministers, permanent secretaries and members of the ruling NRM central executive committee (CEC).

Asked by the show presenter whether the subject came up for discussion at the steady progress retreat, a furious Opondo said; “Kyankwanzi retreat didn't focus on the superfluous redundant talk on lifting the presidential age limit. The Kyankwanzi woman MP who wants age limit lifted wanted to come 4 the retreat but wasn't allowed.”

He added that during the retreat, the president didn't meet any agitators of lifting the age limit. He said the talk was rumors.

Agitated by the pressing presenter (Simon Kaggwa) who insisted on asking the same question again and again, OO lost his temper and scoffed at the presenter calling him stupid and his questions foolish on live television; “I will not entertain these foolish questions from the host. Issue of lifting age limit wasn't discussed in Kyankwanzi. Unless you are stupid, I have said it before and I will say it again, lifting age limit never came up in Kyankwanzi.”

OO claims that in Kyankwanzi, the talk was centered on police brutality. He adds that President Museveni condemned the overbearing behavior exhibited by some police officers, before ordering the Internal affairs to consider constituting an inquiry into how police handles public disputes, even illegal ones.

The president general Jeema party also lawyer Asuman Basalirwa who appeared on the same program said Opondo’s behavior this morning is not new as he appeared the same during the discussion of removal of term limits.

According to Basalirwa, there will be a removal of age limits since nobody in Parliament has capacity to stop that.

"Age limits will be removed. Mr Museveni will stand in 2021," Basalirwa observed.
