The police have deployed in Kampala and other parts of the country to frustrate efforts of the opposition forum for democratic change to hold a demonstration on 5th of this month.

Addressing the media in Kampala this morning Polly Namaye, the deputy police spokesperson said they will not at any point allow the FDC party leadership and members to go against the law.

On 29th April 2016, an interim order was issued by the constitutional Court, stipulating that the defiance activities of FDC were unlawful and should not be undertaken.

Namaye said; “Youths are specifically cautioned from getting involved in such unlawful activities, including the procession and demonstration planned for 5th May 2016. There is a document in circulation dated 21st April 2016 mobilizing people and persuading Ugandans to be recruited into unlawful activities of public disorder during the swearing in ceremony of H.E the president scheduled for May 12th.”

The deputy police mouthpiece also said their intelligence has received information of a threat of terror to Uganda particularly the Airports and other important installations. She however says “police continues to advise all people to be vigilant and alert and report any suspicious items or persons to the nearest police station.”
