The opposition Uganda peoples’ congress, UPC party wants government Spokesperson Ofwono Opondo to apologize publicly for throwing disrespectful words to the party’s former president and first lady Mama Miria Obote.
Addressing the media at their head offices Uganda house in Kampala this morning, the party secretary Edward Seganyi said Opondo had made sexist comments about Mama Miria.
According to Seganyi, Opondo said in an article that was published in a local daily that Mama Miria was made UPC president on charity.
He claims Mama miria earned the position as a hard working woman like any other, and it is an insult to want to think for their party.
The party now wants the government mouth piece to swallow his pride and apologize to the former first lady who is currently in her old age.
“Saying that Mama Miria wanted to fit her feet in men’s shoes is being sexist.” We want him to apologize to this country. Saying that making Mama Miria was made party president as a charity is an insult.”
