Reports coming in from Fort portal indicate that Rtd. Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde has been shot in the leg after violent clashes broke out during the youth MP elections.

The bush war hero’s son, Amanya Tumukunde lost the election to Mwiine Mpaka, son to the State Minister for Animal Husbandry Lt. Col. Bright Rwamirama Kanyotole.

It is alleged that Lt. Gen Tumukunde was shot in the wee hours of this morning by soldiers attached to the military police.

According to his aide, he is being treated for bullet wounds at a Fort Portal clinic, and will be transported to Kampala later today.

 Another unconfirmed report indicates that one of Tumukunde’s military escorts was also shot in the legs.

Violence started on Monday, when a supporter of Amanya was badly beaten and rushed to a clinic in Fort portal. The bush war hero later came in demanding to know from police heads, why this was happening.

At about 2:50 am this morning, Mwine Mpaka was declared winner with 660votes, Amanya Tumukunde came second with 463 votes, while Fortunate Nuwasasira of the Go Forward camp was last with just 10 votes.
