The electoral commission commenced with the printing of ballot papers for the General Elections in December in the countries of South Africa, United Arab Emirates (Dubai), The United Kingdom, and Uganda.

Addressing the media at the commission’s offices in Kampala, the EC Chairman Eng. Dr. Badru Kiggundu said ballot papers for Presidential, Parliamentary, and District Women Councilors were printed in South Africa, those of District Chairpersons, District Directly-elected Councilors, and Sub County Women Councilors in UAE (Dubai), while those of Municipality Mayors, Municipality Councilors, and Special Interest Groups Councilors are being printed in Uganda.

Dr. Kiggundu also explained that representatives of political parties/candidates were invited to go and observe the exercise of printing of the ballot papers in the four countries mentioned above.

He added; “We wish to assure all stakeholders that the printing of ballot papers is on schedule, and the first consignment of ballot papers for presidential and Parliamentary elections is scheduled for arrival at Entebbe International Airport, tomorrow, Thursday 28th January 2016.”

Kiggundu also said; “The commission will notify and invite stakeholders, including the media, to witness the receiving of ballot papers at the airport and the other handling stages, namely, packing and dispatch district.”
