The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has sacked its entire staff in the new arrangement aimed at enhancing efforts to fulfil its mandate of developing, manage and maintain the national roads.

Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has sacked 890 staff in the on-going restructuring process.  

UNRA Executive Director, Allen Kagina, told a news conference in Kampala that a total of 1736 staff will be recruited.

She says inefficiency and corruption are one of the key reasons and that most of the work was previously being done by consultants and not UNRA staff which are not cost effective. About 890 staff will be affected and the new company structure will have 1736 staff.
