Busoga Kingdom has denied media reports that the Kyabazinga HRH William Wilberforce Nadiope Gabula IV has received a Vote of No Confidence and therefore removed from office.

According to a document dated 12th January 2022 purportedly signed by the chiefs, the Chiefs Royal Council sat on 3rd January and took a vote of No Confidence in Gabula.

However, a letter from the Kingdom’s Prime Minister Joseph Muvawala issued this afternoon indicates that the document earlier issued by the chiefs should be ignored and treated with the contempt it deserves.

“HRH William Wilberforce Nadiope Gabula IV, the legitimate Isebantu Kyobazings of Busoga Kingdom as duly elected on the 24th August 2014, enthroned on the 1th September 2014 and duly Gazetted by the government of Uganda on the 24th June 2019 under General Notice No. 649 of 2019 is firmly in office and performing his functions as enshrined under the Obwa Kyabaringa Bwa Busoga Constitution and the refevant national Laws. The purported dismissal and or election of a new Kyabazinga is false, illegal, misleading and intended at creating confusion and disunity in the Kingdom which all peace loving Basoga and Ugandans should shun and condemn” Muvawala says in his statement.

He adds that the Kyabazinga once elected under the Constitution of Busoae and culture, reigns till death and the organs of the Obwa Kyabazings to it; the Busoga Lukiiko, the Cabinet, Clans Council, Abambedha Council, Chief Royal Council among others are duly performing their mandate and there should be no cause for alarm.

“The Kingdom has in the past seven years since enthronement of HRH the Isebantu Kyabazinga, registered tremendous success in areas of cultural promotion, unity, education, health, strategic partnerships among others and these it will continue to build on for the social, cultural and economic benefit of our people. We thank the Government of Uganda, people of Busoga and our partners that have been strong pillars in these efforts” noted Muvawala.

The Kingdom reassured the general public that these temporary developments just like several others before shall be dealt with and managed and encourages everyone to remain calm and observe law and order.
