Shock has gripped residents of Bweyogerere Central Zone, Kira Municipality in Wakiso District after a 6-year-old child was found hanging dead in the bedroom.
Asp Luke Owoyesigyire Deputy PRO KMP says the Police at Kiira Division are investigating circumstances under which Moreen Nantume was found dead on Wednesday 12.01.2022 at around 1800hrs.
It is alleged that the deceased was found by her brother, a 13-year-old, hanging on a cloth tied on the middle bed of a three decker bed.
The brother had just returned from school and attempted to open the door but it was locked from the inside. He later peeped through the glass window only to see her sister hanging.
The boy rushed to inform the mother, Catherine Nakafu, 35, a businesswoman who works in the neighborhood, they informed police and officers responded.
The police accessed the house by breaking the door, while scene of crime officers managed to pick the relevant pieces of evidence and later took the body to city mortuary at Mulago for a post mortem.
The investigative team has also established, through the parents, that the deceased was pending to be returned to the village in Lugumba, Buikwe District, to a school she did not want.
Investigations are still ongoing although preliminary findings point to the fact that the deceased could have committed suicide.
