30-year-old man in trouble for burning his wife with hot water 

Police have Thursday arrested 30-year-old Mohammed Ikesi, a resident of Buyala trading center in Jinja City's Northern division, for pouring hot water on his wife, Rachel Nabirye aged 26 years.

Police have Thursday arrested 30-year-old Mohammed Ikesi, a resident of Buyala trading center in Jinja City's Northern division, for pouring hot water on his wife, Rachel Nabirye aged 26 years. 

The couple is alleged to have engaged in a domestic quarrel on Wednesday night where Ikesi accused Nabirye of infidelity. The suspect proceeded to beat his wife before pushing her towards a saucepan full of boiling water.

Ikesi is currently being detained at Buyala police station while Nabirye is nursing wounds at a private clinic within Jinja city. She sustained injuries in her thighs and private parts. 

She noted that her husband is battling issues of insecurity and has been baselessly accusing her of infidelity for the past six months. 

Despite involving religious leaders and their parents in the with hopes of solving their marital challenges, the victim says their fights continue to escalate on a daily basis.
James Mubi Kiira the region’s police spokesperson, noted that the suspect will face two counts of assault and malicious damage. 

He added that officers attached to their child and family protection unit-CFPU, are conducting sensitization drives aimed at enlightening married couples on how best they can defend themselves against the negative effects of domestic violence.


Nabirye’s mother, Tabitha Nangobi says that the two have failed to understand each other, which has exposed them to frequent fights.
