Authorities have recovered the body of a 16-year-old girl who went missing on Wednesday.
Isah Ssemwogerere, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson identified the deceased as Jane Anyango, a daughter to Teopista Auma a resident of Kagembe village in Makulubita sub-county.
According to one of the residents, Anyango disappeared on Wednesday when her mother had sent her to take maize to the grain milling machine at the nearby village.
This prompted the residents and the deceased’s mother to launch investigations after she failed to return home in vain.
However, residents were shocked on Thursday when they found her dead body dumped in a water pond.
Ssemwogerere says that Policemen from Bombo Police Station picked the body and transferred it to Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmortem.
He says that the body had wounds on the breast and abdomen.
Investigations into her death are ongoing and but police are yet to arrest any suspect in the murder.
