Online examinations at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) have been postponed following challenges on the E-learning system which crashed.

Exams at the campus started on September 27th and were expected to end on October 9th, 2021.

Eldred Kyomuhangi Manyindo the Academic Registrar, says that they were forced to postpone some papers due to the failure of the system to handle a large number of submissions.
The crash affected papers that were scheduled for September 30th, October 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The affected exams will now take place from October 13th to 16th.

On Thursday, MUBS E-learning center on Thursday referred students to heads of departments and deans to handle the issues surrounding submission and late submission of examinations.

A circular issued by the E-learning center indicates that the examinations that will be submitted to private staff addresses like emails will not be marked by lecturers.

“Do not submit your examinations on any private staff email. Your examinations will not be considered. Seek guidance from your respective heads of department or deans of faculty on how to proceed,” the circular reads.

The Nakawa-based institution had not held exams since the second Covid-19 lockdown was announced in June. The system broke down and the website was put under maintenance ahead of their long-awaited exams. This is not the first technical problem that has been experienced by MUBS, the institution faced a system breakdown at the start of the online examinations.
