Police have arrested three people in relation to the murder of a couple in Aleles Village in Angodingod Sub County, Katakwi District.

Police have arrested three people in relation to the murder of a couple in Aleles Village in Angodingod Sub County, Katakwi District.

The victims are Emmanuel Ojirot and his wife, Teddy Achodet whose bodies were discovered on Tuesday by residents after realizing that the house had remained closed throughout the day. 
The couple’s two children were also hacked in the same house and were rushed to Katakwi General Hospital. 

According to George William Olemu the Village Chairperson of Aleles, by the time the residents got to know about the attack, the couple was dead except for their only two children who were struggling for their lives.

Katakwi Resident District Commissioner of Stephen Ekoom, says the Police have recovered a phone and the knife from the scene of the crime and arrested three people, who include Simon Olem, Agnes Asege and John Robert Ijoot all residents of Akism Parish were arrested using sniffer dogs.

Ekoom says they have gathered some preliminary findings into the matter that will help in the investigations of the case.

“We have secured the scene and are now in contact with experts in Kampala to help trace the criminals. I want to appeal to clan leaders to always coordinate with the security team for any issues arising from their members. This will help security to intervene in matters before they get out of hand”, Ekoom said.

According to Oscar Gregg Ageca, the Regional Police Spokesman East Kyoga, investigations are underway.
He has requested members of the community in Katakwi to remain calm.
