There is a heavy security deployment from the joint security around Kyambogo University as the institution carries out day one of graduation at the institution.

Uganda Police Force-UPF, local Defense Force Unity – LDU, Army and Kamed security Limited, a private security company contracted to Kyambogo University have all heavily deployed to ensure smooth running of the event today.

According to Mission Samuel the Chief Security Officer of Kyambogo University, the deployment followed information that some people were planning to disrupt the graduation ceremony, and as a result, they had to tighten security at the University.

All persons attending the 17th graduation have been invited and the security personnel is turning away whoever is not on the list of invited people.

There are over 30 security personnel deployed at Kyambogo University main gate, alone, while Banda gate has over 20, Kabaka gate is manned by 15 officers and the majority of others are patrolling the University premises.

Nine thousand five hundred and twenty one-9521 students have been successfully approved by Kyambogo University Senate to graduate in the 17th graduation.

The Vice-Chancellor of Kyambogo University Professor Eli Katunguka says that out of 9,521 students are 5,074 are Males and 4,447 are females. 251 students managed to score first-class degrees. One hundred sixty four-164 males and eighty seven-87 are females.
