Armed thugs attack Chinese Quarry in Nakaseke, steal two guns & injure Police officers

Two guns were stolen and two Policemen were left injured during an attack by 10 thugs who robbed a Chinese quarry in Nakaseke district.

Two guns were stolen and two Policemen were left injured during an attack by 10 thugs who robbed a Chinese quarry in Nakaseke district.

The attack happened at around 9;10pm, at Jiu Zhou Stone company Uganda Limited at Lule Ward in Semuto town council. The thugs allegedly disappeared with an unknown sum of money from the company.

According to Edward Katumba, a resident of the same area, a number of armed thugs raided the company and cut the two policemen who were guarding the quarry before they robbed their guns.

The thugs also stole money which the company had withdrawn from the bank ahead of payday for its workers today.

The injured Policemen were identified as Simon Ebong and Alfred Juster, all deployed to guard the quarry but attached at Semuto Police Station.

Policemen from Semuto Police Station together with residents mounted an operation and arrested two of the thugs who were traveling in a vehicle, Toyota registration number UAN 325N.

According to Isah Ssemwogerere the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson, Police has so far recovered one gun and they are still on the search for other eight suspects.

He noted that the thugs were armed with a pump action gun and machetes before they attacked the Policemen.
