Police in Kole District has in custody three men identified as Oree Charles, Owor Alfred and Oming Robert Charles on allegations of failing to account for 9.5million shilling Emyooga funds meant to support local SACCO groups.

It's alleged that trio, on the 29th March 2021 withdrew 35,000,000 from Opportunity bank Lira-branch but only declared 25.5million shs, they gave 15millions Shs to Adyela local leaders SACCO and 10.5 million Shs to Bala elected leaders SACCO. 

However, Shillings 9.5million couldn't be accounted for as other group members never got the money.

The suspects were summoned to police and detained as they record statements.

The District commercial officer Joseph Okello is also accused of demanding for a kickback of 4million shs for each withdraw. The accusation was made by members of various groups, leading to his arrest too, while his assistant Emmanuel Okao is on the run.

Okema says their files are being compiled for submission to Resident State Attorney for legal advice, though there is mediation process by some district officials so that they pay back the unaccounted money.
