Police in Kabale is investigating circumstances under which a man cut his 36 years old wife to death and attempted to commit suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Asiimwe Phiona, a resident of Kacerere "B" cell/ ward Ryakarimira town council Kabale district, who was allegedly cut the neck with a panga by her husband one Sigirenda Wilber 48 years of the same address.
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional spokesperson, it is alleged that on the 08/08/2021 at around 20:00hrs the suspect went to Asiimwe’s house, found the victim who has been his second wife inside the house and children already asleep.
He forcefully opened the door, attacked her and cut her neck, killing her instantly for yet unknown reason.
After the incident, Sigirenda went to the home of his first wife identified as Musinguzi Peace. However, when she saw him, and realized something was wrong, Musinguzi took off. In the process, one of Sigirenda’s sons identified as Tumuramye Rogers picked a panga and cut the father below the ear.
Police was notified and arrested him.
However, Maate says the suspect had taken poison or drugs which weakened him. He is currently admitted unconscious at Rubaya health centre four.
Inquiries to establish the cause of murder is ongoing.
