Management of Makerere University says the institution will hold examinations for final year students, despite the presidential directive suspending school activities.

President Museveni ordered closure of all learning institution with effect from today Monday 7th June at 8:00am, for 42-days and advised that all learners should return to their respective homes immediately, as the government moves to control a surge in COVID-19 infections.

However, Makerere University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe says the final year students had already started their final examinations by the time of the presidential declaration and are expected to return home immediately after their last paper. Examinations at Makerere University for final year students have been running since May 24, 2021.

Only continuing students who were scheduled to start their papers today will have their examinations rescheduled, until after the 42 days.

Meanwhile, the university acting Dean of Students, Winfred Kabambuli ordered wardens to halls of residences to ensure that students vacate the premises by close of today June 7 2021 in observance of the presidential directive.
