MP Elect Busiro North, Paul Nsubuga has been granted bail after some days in police custody.

Nsubuga was arrested last week after a video of him allegedly stealing a phone appeared in the media. The incident allegedly happened at least two years ago in downtown Kampala.
On Tuesday, the MP was produced before Buganda Road Court, on charges of Theft of a mobile phone with a mobile money dealership. 

Asp Luke Owoyesigyire Deputy PRO KMP says the accused was released on bail and will now defend himself against the accusations made against him in Court.

“Members of the public should know that no matter one’s status or political affiliation, they will always face the law, if caught in conflict with the law” Owoyesigyire says.

In the video, the MP who had come to buy a phone is seen making away with a small phone used by the shop attendant for mobile money. The shop owner claims the phone had float that Nsubuga stole it.

They had been searching for him and released the video on social media but could not find the thief, until he appeared in posters seeking to become Member of Parliament. 

Nsubuga was on January 14 successfully elected Member of Parliament for Busiro North.
