The National Unity Platform, NUP party President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has been arrested and driven back to his home in Magere.

Kyagulanyi was arrested on Monday afternoon at City Square in Kampala where he was leading a team of MPs and other opposition leaders to peacefully protest against the continued arrests of his supporters.

“Bobi Wine arrested as he led MPs and other leaders in a peaceful protest against the abduction, torture and murder of his supporters. The protest was taking place at City Square, Kampala” his twitter handle announced immediately after arrest.

However, Bobi Wine was not held by police at any station, but instead he was escorted back to his home in Magere.

Last week, the former presidential candidate called for peaceful demonstrations against abduction of his supporters and what he calls his stolen victory.

Kyagulanyi claims to have won the January 14th presidential elections but his victory was stolen by the NRM candidate, Yoweri Museveni. However, people did not show up on the streets as instructed by the Kyadondo East MP.

This prompted him to take charge and show up today for the peaceful protests that were immediately foiled by police.
