Police Marines, residents hunt for crocodile which killed boy in Mayuge district

The police marine department has teamed up with residents of Musubi village in Bukatube sub county, Mayuge district to hunt for a crocodile which killed and made off with the body of a sixteen year old boy.

The police marine department has teamed up with residents of Musubi village in Bukatube sub county, Mayuge district to hunt for a crocodile which killed and made off with the body of a sixteen year old boy.

The deceased has been identified as Shafic Watangwa, a son to Abdul Masaba of the same area.

Reports indicate that the deceased had gone swimming in Lake Victoria on Thursday evening together with his two friends, when the killer crocodile attacked them. 

however, the other two survived and rushed back home to inform Masaba about the incident.

According to Masaba, the incident occurred at around 6:00pm, prompting residents to lay traps to capture it, but in vain.

James Mubi the Busoga East police spokesperson, says they dispatched marine units to join the residents in this hunt with hopes of recovering Watangwa's body.

He warned members of the public to look out for their children and deter them from accessing Lake Victoria due to the increasing number of crocodiles advancing towards the shoreline.
