NRM wins some seats in Masaka LCIII elections

National Unity Platform, Democratic Party and National Resistance Movement share the seats, unlike the Parliamentary elections that were heavily dominated by the NUP.

The just concluded LCIII elections in the four sub-counties that make up Masaka district have seen all Parties; National Unity Platform, Democratic Party and National Resistance Movement share the seats, unlike the Parliamentary elections that were heavily dominated by the NUP.

In Kyanamukaka sub-county, Cyrus Kalema of NUP was declared LCIII Chairperson winner. Kalema garnered 4,002 votes, and was followed by NRMs’ Mathias Ssekiwala with 2,695, while in the third position was independent candidate Michael Innocent Tusuubira who polled 405 votes.

DP’s Gordon Mayanja was announced winner in Kyesiga sub-county after polling 3,102 votes beating NRM’s Abdu Nsubuga.

NRMs’ Jjuuko Aloysius was announced winner in Bukakata sub-county with 2,682, beating his own son William Waswa who contested on the NUP party ticket.

Waswa polled 648 votes followed by independent candidate Joseph Lubega who polled 547 and Abud Kayabula also independent who got only 249.

John Ssekasiko Kavuma a DP candidate won in Buwunga, having polled 2518, he was followed by NUP’s Beatrice Mpaaga Nasbisere who got 2461, and NRM’s Ssebude Gerevazio came last with 1364.
