The Uganda Red Cross Society has confirmed that 32 dead bodies were recovered from the wreckage of a road carnage that happened along Hima Rugendabara Road at Kihogo, in Kasese.
The accident involving 5 cars followed a head on collision between a truck carrying a coffin and mourners that was coming from Bundibugyo, going for burial in Maliba.
Irene Nakasiita the Spokesperson Uganda Red Cross Society confirms that 32 dead bodies were recovered from the wreckage and 5 survivors referred to Kilembe Hospital for medical attention.
She added that they worked together with UPDF led by Maj. Charles Nzei and the police to manage the scene.
Eyewitnesses say there were two other trucks including a cement truck carrier which fell and cement bags ended up covering three people.
The Red Cross deployed a crane which was used to dig out the three bodies that had been covered.
