The police in Nebbi have arrested a man and are hunting for four others in connection to murder and arson of a woman they6 accuse of bewitching their mother.

The suspects have been identified as Geoffrey Ochankeru, a peasant farmer who was picked up on Sunday morning and Ronald Odwoka, Morris Oroma, Junior Ogenwroth as well as Charles Warom, all residents of Nyakamana village who are on the run.

They are wanted for causing the death of 60-year-old Rosaria Ngamita, a resident of Nyakamana village Koch parish Nebbi Sub County in Nebbi district.

The suspects allegedly ganged up against Ngamita accusing her of bewitching their mother who died at 6 am on Sunday. They stormed her home around 7 am and set her house ablaze before they intercepted her as she returned from a borehole and beat her to death.

According to Josephine Angucia the West Region Police spokesperson, the suspects after killing Ngamita pulled her body up to where they had placed the body of their mother and ordered that they be buried together.

Angucia added that police got a tip from a resident of the area and rushed to the scene and managed to arrest Geoffrey Ochankeru, while the other four fled and are still on the run.
A team of homicide detectives and scene of crime officers was dispatched to the scene and picked up the two bodies and took them to Nebbi hospital mortuary for postmortem.
