Oxygen shortage hits Soroti Hospital as Teso Coach Proprietor succumbs to COVID-19

The proprietor of Teso Coach Faustino Etilu has Tuesday morning passed on at the Intensive Care Unit of Mulago National Referral Hospital due to COVID-19.

Etilu was admitted at Mulago last evening following his referral from the COVID-19 treatment unit of Soroti Regional Referral Hospital after testing positive for the novel coronavirus disease

According to his brother, Jovans Peter Odikor, Etilu who has been on oxygen for the last five days was rushed to Mulago hospital due to the shortage of oxygen supply at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital.

It is alleged that the facility has had challenges with oxygen supply due to persistent power blackouts. 

The COVID-19 Focal Point Person at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital Dr. Wilson Etolu, could not comment on the matter, but the Hospital is currently managing more than 50 COVID-19 patients. 

The deceased owned a number of businesses including Soroti Flying View Hotel and Amuria Transporters and Constructors Company among others.
