Police warns motorists to leave town early as curfew re-enforcement enters night 2

Ugandans especially those in Kampala must plan their time well to ensure they are home by 2100hrs tonight or risk being arrested and their vehicles impounded.


The warning sounded by Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson follows the resumption of curfew operations that started last night.


The joint security team carried out an operation to reinvigorate the anti-COVID19 enforcement measures, especially the curfew hours in Kampala on Monday night and impounded over 211 motor vehicles and 331 motor cycles.


According to Onyango, the operation was peaceful and it was carried out in an orderly manner and professionally. He noted that some drivers were cautioned while others were issued with Express Penalty Scheme tickets.


“The operation will continue today. We appeal to the general public to plan their journeys early to avoid being caught on the wrong side of the law. We would like to remind all motorists that the timing of the curfew is 9:00PM” Onyango says.


81Motor vehicles and 22Motor cycles were impounded by police in Kampala Metropolitan East, 45 Motor vehicles and 145 Motor cycles were impounded by Police in Kampala Metropolitan North while 85 Motor vehicles and 164 Motor cycles were impounded in Kampala Metropolitan Police South
