Uganda People’s Defense Forces-UPDF at the Jinja Gaddafi barracks are holding two military imposters who have been terrorizing travelers in the area.

The duo, identified as Simon Waiswa and Muzamiru Kawuzi was arrested from Buwenge Town Council on Wednesday evening for illegally using military attire to rob unsuspecting members of the public.

This came after several complaints from members of the public implicating the duo for robbing them at gunpoint. Waiswa and Kawuzi have allegedly been waylaying commuter taxis where they would commandeer travelers to surrender their valuables or be killed.

The Jinja Zone UPDF spokesperson Edwin Mawanda says the suspects have been terrorizing people in Kamuli, Luuka and Jinja district, and they will appear in the UPDF court martial for illegal possession of a firearm and government stores.

They were paraded at Gadaffi barracks on Thursday morning and confessed to owning army uniforms, but denied being in possession of firearms.
