The Uganda Peoples Defense Forces UPDF has arrested 3 men in Budondo in Jinja district for masquerading as army officers.
The incident happened on Tuesday morning when the people were found identifying themselves military officers. However, Edwin Mawanda the area UPDF spokesperson says this group of thugs operates majorly in the areas of Bugembe, Kakira, and Budondo soliciting money from youth promising to recruit them into UPDF.
Investigations are ongoing to find out who these people are. They even use military uniform yet they are civilians.
“I therefore inform our people in Busoga region to be very careful of conmen and I encourage people in Busoga region to report any people who misuse our military uniform” Mawanda said.
He added that when UPDF is carrying out any recruitment they always pass the information on Radio, TV and all village security.
