Hon John Baptist Nambeshe of Manjiya County in Bududa district has defected from the National Resistance Movement to National Unity Platform.

He was welcomed to the party by its President also Kyadondo East MP, Hon Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine at the NUP head offices in Kamwokya, Kampala.

“We don’t doubt people who come from the oppressor’s side. Even during the Togikwatako, the Hon Nambeshe stood with the people of Uganda” Bobi Wine said.
The new member was also handed a NUP card to officially welcome him to the party.

Nambeshe committed to his new party and assured them of his support and that of the people of Manjiya. “The entire sub-region of Bugisu, we have been aggressively reaching out to them and they are behind people power and now NUP which is the vehicle that is going to drive this movement right from its unveiling, I assure you we have a lot of support from the East and particularly from the sub region of Bugisu” Nambeshe said.

Nambeshe was joined by Hon Nsamba John Patrick Oshabe the Kassanda County MP who has also been a member of the NRM. Bobi Wine said that Oshabe has respectfully refused to blindly follow President Museveni.

Hon Nsamba said he was glad to work with Hon Kyagulanyi. “He is a man who inspires me and every Ugandan now down there, they have hope because of Hon Kyagulanyi Ssentamu. I am a man who believes in change, I believed in transition within NRM but there was no single hope that within NRM anybody can talk about standing against President Museveni” Hon Nsamba narrated.

Adding that he is proud to be a part of the biggest political party in Uganda today, NUP.

Mityana MP Hon Zaake Francis also officially joined the Party. Zaake who has been whooped by security forces on several occasions, officially joined his colleague in beating, Hon Kyagulanyi.

“It is time to push NUP and make it the greatest party ever” Zaake said. Adding that the ruling NRM party thought it would be the only political party in 2021, but that it will also be wiped out by next year.

“We are here to step on the NRM and make sure it is phased out of the Uganda politics” Zaake threatened.

Hon Abdulatif Ssebagala Sengendo MP Kawempe North also officially picked a party card. Ssebagala had already showed interest in joining NUP from the get go.

“We have gathered here as MPS to announce publically that now we are members of NUP. I am an Independent, I have been homeless but today marks the end of homeless Latif Ssebagala Ssengendo” he said.

He appealed to all MPs to join NUP because there is no other option for those that want change. Ssengendo promised support from his constituents.

Others who officially joined the party are Kawempe Mayor Emmanuel Sserunjogi and Nakawa Mayor Ronal Balimwezo among other people.
