Uganda Police Force is mourning two of their own officers who perished in an accident on Thursday morning at Magamaga Trading Center along Iganga - Jinja Highway. One suspect who was being escorted by the officers, also died on spot.
The officers have been identified as; D/ AIP Mawa Emmanuel attached to General Crime at CID headquarters and D / Sgt Magara Dick from General Crime CID headquarters. The suspect who died on spot is Wadambwa Phillip.
According to James Mubi the Police PRO Busoga East, the accident involved motor vehicle registration number UBF 837K Toyota /premio silver in color that was being driven by some unknown person had a head on collision with a trailer Reg No.KCQ 638C /ZC 738 Foton and later a side brush with a Police vehicle number UP 7483.
The three people all died on spot while another officer identified as D/Sgt oguti survived with critical injuries and he is currently admitted at Jinja Referral Hospital receiving treatment. The bodies have been conveyed to Jinja Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
The incident happened at around 5am on the morning of 2nd July 2020.
Inquiries into the cause of accident are ongoing.
