Police in Kabale is hunting for a driver who knocked and killed a pedal cyclist in a hit and run accident.
The victim is one Twinomujuni Fred 45 years of Kitojo village Ntungamo parish Ruhija s/c Rubanda district who was knocked by mv reg no UAS 598S Toyota premio driven by unknown person who is on the run.
The incident happened on Thursday at around 14:00 hours at Mwanjari Market along Kabale Katuna highway when both the vehicle and victim were from town heading towards Katuna. The victim was knocked from behind.
After the incident, the driver took off and hid the vehicle in Kikungiri university hill in someone's home where it has been recovered by police.
Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead on arrival in Kabale referral hospital where he had been rushed for treatment.
Inquiries underway to establish the likely cause of accident.
