Bodies of two teenagers retrieved from Lake Bunyonyi

Police together with residents in Karambo village in Rubanda district have retrieved bodies of two people who drowned and died in Lake Bunyonyi.

Police together with residents in Karambo village in Rubanda district have retrieved bodies of two people who drowned and died in Lake Bunyonyi. Two others survived when the boat they were using capsized on Wednesday evening.

Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesperson says that on Wednesday evening while on lake Bunyonyi in Karambo village, Ikamiro parish, Muko s/c Rubanda district,  Ninsima Moreen 15yrs student of Creamland high school Kabale and resident of the above address and Kakuru Edivance15 yrs pupil Kyenyi p/school of Kyafurwe village Kyenyi parish Muko s/c drowned  and died instantly.

Meanwhile, Ndyomugabe Robert m/a 18yrs student of cream land high school and Akampurira Milvil   12yrs of Karambo p/school survived by swimming.

Maate says the victims were using a local canoe near Karambo landing site and the boat just capsized. “Cause not yet established but they didn't have safely gears like life jackets.”

The body of Kakuru Edivance was retrieved by local divers after it was seen floating on the water last evening, while the body of second victim Ninsima Moreen was also sighted floating on water and retrieved from therein on Thursday morning.
