Officers from the joint security team have shot and killed a robber at Nakulabye. The incident happed around midnight this morning.
Luke Owoyesigyire the deputy spokesperson Kampala metropolitan police, says officers at Old Kampala Police Station received information of an armed robbery taking place at Nakulabye Zone 8, Rubaga Division in Kampala.
Immediately, a foot patrol team comprising of Police and Local Defence Unit personnel was dispatched to the scene and found one Abraham Otim, robbing people.
According to Owoyesigyire, the team warned him several times to stop and surrender his gun, but he refused prompting the security team to put him out of action.
Meanwhile, investigations have established that Otim was a guard attached to SWAT Security Company who was guarding Capital Forex Bureau in Nakulabye, that is located about 1 KM from where he was robbing people.
“We have interacted with two victims, Dan Yakuze whom he found in his house and robbed, and one Isma whom he beat up badly and forced him to open his shop. Fortunately, the response team found him in action robbing Isma” Owoyesigyire says.
The teams recovered exhibits from the scene including; a bag containing items that had been robbed from Dan Yakuze and SAR rifle with 04 Rounds of live ammunition.
Otim's Body has been delivered to city mortuary for postmortem, while investigations are ongoing.
