The Inspector General of Police IGP Okoth Martin Ochola has appointed AIGP Edward Ochom as Director Operations Uganda police, replacing AIGP Asuman Mugenyi who retired last week, after 32 years in the force.
AIGP Mugenyi officially handed over office to his deputy Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) John Nuwagiira at end of his contract on Friday, May 29. The IGP has today consequently announced his replacement in a memo copied to all directors.
Meanwhile, SCP John Nuwagiira remains the deputy. The IGP also re-deployed AIGP Andrew Soroweni from Directorate of General Duties to the Directorate of Welfare and Production as Director.
Also, Senior Police Commander SCP James Ochaya becomes the new acting Director Research, Planning and Development. According to the IGP’s message, all appointments are with immediate effect.
Fred Enanga the police spokesperson trashed rumors that Mugenyi was suspended.
