One person has been rescued from the rubble of the building, which collapsed on Saturday night in Kiwempe village in Makindye Division.

30-year-old Kenneth Mutala was rescued by officers from the Police Fire and Rescue team on Monday morning with the help of an excavator. 

Mutula who was badly injured has been rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital using a fire tender truck since there was no ambulance on the site.  

Edward Tugonza, the victim’s father was overwhelmed by joy and rushed home to inform the family of the good news. Meanwhile, Police also recovered the body of a welder only identified as John from Kibuye. 

The number of people pulled out of the rubble of the building where about 20 builders are believed to have been staying is now 13. They have been staying at the site, due to the Covid19 preventive guidelines requiring workers to stay on site. Nine of these are dead.
