German National Dies at Luzira

The Germany National Bernhard Bery Glaser, 71 has Thursday morning succumbed to cancer at Luzira prison.

On 3rd April 2019, Glaser appeared before Masaka Chief Magistrate, Deogratius Ssejjemba and was charged with 27 counts connected to aggravated defilement and child trafficking. Prosecution told court that inquiries into the cases were complete.

He was charged with 19 counts of aggravated trafficking of children, 5 counts of aggravated defilement, 1 count of indecent assault and 1 count of operating unauthorized children’s home.

According to Frank Baine the Uganda Prisons Spokesperson, the crimes were all committed in Kalangala where the German national was operating the illegal home. The case was heard in Masaka and he was sent to Luzira before being taken to mulago cancer institute where he spent two months and was later referred for treatment abroad.

“We returned him since they had no space for him as he was not a patient of mulago cancer institute anymore. Yesterday he was in Court and granted bail but the process could not be completed since the banks had closed and the process was to be completed today, unfortunately he passed on this morning” Baine said.
