The ministry of education has advised all local government leaders to ensure that materials printed for Primary and Secondary school learners in rural villages are distributed fairly.

In a phone interview with HowweBiz, Alex Kakooza the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education said they printed revision materials prepared by UNRB and the National Curriculum Development center, and distributed them to all districts.

He adds that though the materials may not be enough, district authorities are re-printing to ensure that each child is catered for.

The development comes at a time when Ugandan school going children from nursery to University are home for over 57 days following a lockdown announced by President Museveni to avoid the spread of CoronaVirus.

Last week, Kakooza flagged off the revision materials that were printed in Kampala to all districts in the country. But while these are meant to help learners in primary and secondary schools, university students remain unplanned for.

The PS told Howwe that they should stick to study plans given to them at the beginning of the semester and those that can access the internet, do some research online. He insists, no examinations will be allowed during the lockdown.

In his speech on Monday this week, President Museveni said he would not mind schools closing for a whole year, as long as it meant keeping all children safe from the pandemic that has ravaged the world and killed hundreds of thousands of people across the world.

According to Kakooza, they will await a directive from President Yoweri Museveni to re-open schools, but in the meantime, parents should let children learn from Radio and TV programs set up by the ministry.
