Arua Chief Magistrate Justice Daniel Lubowa has remanded 19 people in to prison for disobeying lawful orders.

Court had on Monday heard that the suspects on Saturday at 4:30 pm congregated and locked themselves inside Kampala Gardens Bar and Lodge along Enyau road in Arua Municipality.

Steven Mayebale, Alon Inzaruku, Morris Butele, Rajab Karim, Alfred Batre, Joseph Aboyi and Terah Osborne were later arrested by police detectives following a tip-off from neighbors.

Others are Hassan Yasir, Daniel Kennedy, Farid Sanko, Siraj Asiku, Hassan Aziza, Bruhan Amina, Manuela Alezuyo, Aisha Onyera, Christine Taibo, Farida Fusilati, Maimuna Mami, and Manuella Shamira.

Accordingly, Justice Lubowa remanded the suspects to Arua government prison until April 27 when they will reappear for further hearing of the case.

Police in Arua has since intensified monitoring of bars and lodges after reports emerged that several people are defying the president’s directives.
