Police have refuted claims by People Power boss, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi, that his supporter a one Nabukenya Rita was knocked and killed by a patrol car on Monday morning.

Kyagulanyi wrote on his facebook page, that Nabukenya was chased and killed by a police patrol car because she was wearing people power colors.
“A very sad day! Yet again, police have murdered one of our solid leaders of the People Power Movement. Police saw Rita Nabukenya wearing People Power colours on a boda boda, run after her with a police patrol truck and knocked her dead” Bobi wrote.

However, a statement released by police this afternoon, indicates that Nabukenya was a victim of two motorcycles at Nakawa and instead, the patrol car helped rush her to the hospital, where she later succumbed to the wounds.

“In the accident, Motorcycle UEY 675P was trying to overtake our patrol vehicle number UP 4841 but unfortunately, collided with another motorcycle whose registration number was not captured  immediately because he fled the scene” the statement reads.

The statement adds that the passenger on the motorcycle UEY 675P was Nabukenya Ritah, a resident of Bunamwaya sustained serious injuries after she fell off the motorcycle and the Patrol vehicle rushed her to Mulago Hospital where she would later succumb to the injuries.
