Two children who were kidnapped from Banda, Nakawa Division, Kampala have been rescued by officers from Jinja Road Police Division who also arrested their kidnappers.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, identified the rescued children as Vincent Kalungi and Ismail Kabali whose kidnap was reported by Hakim Kabali at Banda Police.

"On the 7th of Jan 2020, Golo approached her neighbours in banda. She alleged that she had a birthday party for her child and she needed other children to give company to her own child," Owoyesigyire said.

Golo promised to return the children by 5 pm.

"When she didn’t return by 5 pm like she had promised, the parents of the children called her and she deceived them she had gone with the children to Kayunga and subsequently she switched off her phone," Owoyesigyire added.

This prompted Police to track and arrest Ali Bakaaki, a boyfriend to the suspect who further confessed that the children were at his home.

"Bakaaki further stated that him and One Golo Zarin Shamira had been in a relationship around 2017. He claimed that after some time the suspect Golo told him she had given birth to twins and thus when he asked to have them at his home, she brought the same children she had taken from her neighbours."

Police has since arrested Golo also known as Zolo Zarin Shamira who confesses to having kidnapped the children.

The victims were subjected to medical examination in the presence of their parents for possible assault or any other medical complication.
Meanwhile the suspects, Zolo and Bakaaki are currently in custody as police conclude investigations.
