Police in Kampala have arrested a man for allegedly participating in the kidnap and murder of an eight-year-old girl, Dylan Kirabo, at Luwafu in Makindye Division.
According to Luke Owoyesigire the Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Kirabo was kidnapped and strangled by unknown person’s moments after she was sent to buy spices at a shop located about 20 meters from her grandmother’s home. The girl's body ould later be found in an incomplete building in Makindye Division, over the weekend.
Rhe deceased's father Hakim Sibukyu said his child who was a pupil at Kampala Junior Academy-Najjanankumbi, went missing on Thursday last week at about 2 p.m. and he reported a case of a missing person at Makindye police leading to a hunt that yielded no results on the first day.
Owoyesigyire told reporters on Monday, that the suspect has been identified as Mutyaba Banda, a resident of Sendagala zone, the same area where Kirabo’s body was found and that they are also relying on Closed Circuit Television –CCTV cameras from nearby residences to identify Kirabo’s killers including a man and woman who were sighted at the scene, hours before the body was recovered.
The family buried Kirabo's body on Sunday at their ancestral home in Rakai District.
