Suspect in murder of sex worker finally Identified

The police in Kampala have identified the man believed to have strangled to death Enid Sanyu, a Commercial Sex Worker in Bwaise in Kawempe division in Kampala a fortnight ago.

A naked, lifeless body that was later identified as Sanyu’s was found in a drainage channel in St. Francis Zone in Bwaise with clothes stuck inside her genitals.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, one of the CCTV security cameras captured the image of a man who was last seen with Sanyu and is highly suspected to have strangled her.

Police have since shared his image with various police stations and divisions in Kampala Metropolitan area for easy detection.
However, the suspect’s name and image couldn’t be shared with the public, saying they have only shared it with people known to the suspect, and some people have shared useful clues with the force to the suspect’s whereabouts.

While retrieving Sanyu's body from the trench, police faced difficulty from residents who faulted it for failure to bring a sniffer dog to trace the assailant.
