One person is dead after shooting himself following a Defilement accusation. The deceased is identified as Mucunguzi Danis a private security officer and regional superviser Saracen company in Kigezi who was summoned to kabale police station by DC Okiror Stephen on phone to answer allegations of defilement vid.s.d ref:08/02/01/2019 (CRB.0008/2020).
Mucunguzi allegedly defiled a minor identified as Namara Noeline.aged 16 years, daughter to Kennedy Rwaboona of Rutenga cell, Nyabikoni cell, central Division, kabale District who reported the case.
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi regional police spokesperson, when the suspect arrived at the police station, he was told of his arrest and subsequent detention to help in investigations and thus was taken to the station counter for the process of search and detention. However, Mucunguzi shocked everyone where he instantly pulled out an un detected star pistol before search and shot him self on the head and died instantly.
The scene was immediately preserved and a team of police officers visited the scene including Dpc kabale, Oc CID kabale, police Surgeon, Soco and other detectives. The body was examined and postmortem carried out at the scene, statements recorded from all eye witnesses who were at the counter at the time, sketch plan drawn and photographs taken and later the body was taken to the mortuary pending retrieval by the relatives.
According to Maate, it was later found out that the deceased defiled the victim on the night of 01/01/2020 at his home in Bugongi in kabale municipality where he first intoxicated the victim with alcohol before engaging into sex.
The deceased was also a staff of Saracen security company who is a regional manager kigezi and was in possession of star pistal no.UG PSO T1102-6A01019 which he used to shoot him self and the pistol belongs to the company
"Before the deceased killed him self it had been discovered that he was a patient living with HIV which would automatically change the offence to aggravated defilement and we have since advised the father of the victim to take her to Rugarama hospital for administration of PEP" Maate added.
Police believes the deceased committed sucide for fear of being charged of aggravated defilement which he knew is capital offece.
Investigations are still ongoing.
