Three local artists Kasese are being held by police for allegedly producing songs with obscene words. The suspects include; Loice Biira alias Lola Loyce, Joshua Kule Mwanawamawe and Nicholas Baluku alias Nico, a music producer and song writer.

According to Vincent Twesige the Rwenzori East Region Police Spokesperson, the trio’s trouble came recently after they published a song titled Obusihe (sweetness) which centers more on sex and encourages one to have more sex. The song spreads like wildfire on several Whatsapp groups and received wide condemnation in the district.

Twesige says they arrested the artists following a public outcry about the vulgarity of the song, which although was released to the public recently, it was produced in 2017.

The suspects have since conceded to having published the song and have been charged with advertising obscene publication contrary to section 166(1) of the Penal Code. Their file has also been sent to the Resident State Attorney for perusal and advice before the suspects appear in court.
