A 12-year-old primary seven candidate of Bridge School in Busimbi-Railway in Mityana Municipality who went missing last week has been found alive in a forest near Kyabadaza in Butambala district.
The victim is Peter Ategeka who disappeared last week on Wednesday evening when he went to the market to buy some items after returning from school.
Julius Balikagira the teenager’s father says at first they thought their son had gone to play football with his friends but got concerned when he didn’t return home.
A case of missing person was filed the next day, but all efforts to trace Ategeka’s whereabouts where futile as there were no clues.
According to Balikagira, officers at Butambala police received information last evening from residents indicating that Ategeka had been found abandoned in the forest.
The officer in charge of Kibibi Police Station Ronald Mukisa says that after recovering the child they communicated with nearby police stations to establish whether there were any reports of a missing child.
The victim was subjected to medical test and they are currently waiting for results from the tests taken. The child has since been transported back to Mityana to meet his family and subsequently prepare for his examinations.
According to the victim, two men abducted and placed a handkerchief on his nose before they dragged him to parked vehicle.
Police are investigating a racket of people whom they suspect of being involved in abducting people from Gomba and Mityana districts.
