The speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has instructed the Parliamentary Commission to support Uganda Airlines and ensure that all official travels for MPs and Parliament staff are booked with the Nationla Carrier.

The directive is contained in a memo dated October 16th 2019 sent to all MPs, titled “RE; FLIGHTS TO UGANDA AIRLINES DESTINATIONS”.

In the letter, the speaker says all trips for MPs and staff while on official duty to destinations where the airline operates are scheduled with Uganda Airlines.

After commencement of commercial flights in August this year, President Yoweri Museveni instructed all government officials to use the airlines which currently operates five destinations; Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Bujumbura, Juba, Mogadishu, while Mombasa and Kilimanjaro flights begin on 11th and 13th November 2019 respectively.

Currently, the National carrier plies only regional routes but is expected to expand to international routes in December 2020 and January 2021 when the two Airbuses are delivered.
